President Obama and the first family will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday to participate in a community service project in Washington, D.C., area.
The White House has been promoting community service ahead of a federal holiday as a way to honor civil rights activists Of the spirit and legacy. Last year, the first family veges on walls painted Stuart-Hobson middle school in Washington, d.c. as the Northeast quadrant of their service projects.
Vice President Biden, with his wife, Jill Biden, will mark the event in Philadelphia. Biden will speak at Girard College in the morning before the two participate in service projects to 17 day annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King day event services, Martin Luther King Jr., the largest in the nation.
Later Monday night, President Obama and first lady will attend the concert of “let freedom Ring” celebration of the annual Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Music tribute to the King will feature vocalist Bobby McFerrin Grammy Award-winning, let freedom Ring sound with Music Director Rev. Nolan Williams Jr. and 10th annual John Thompson Legacy Award presented by the dream, Georgetown University for Clarence Jones, a former lawyer and author of the text of a speech to the King.
Other members of the Obama administration will be out in full force that marked the date, too, with the Minister of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki served food to homeless and many others spoke at the event warning.
