Parent effectiveness training effort Ahmad (PET) helps parents in building peaceful relations and compassionate with their children, while constructively emphasizes the value of independence, confidence, resilience and consideration. He followed his award-winning psychologist and three-time Nobel Prize nominee Dr. Thomas Gordon, who started the PET model 50 years ago. Ahmad’s own interest grew when he switched from marketing to teaching in 2004 and Nust business school teaching for a year. “Shifting confirms my own beliefs in the development of teaching as well as personal, so I am launching my own training courses in 2006.” However, it was only in 2007, while living in Beijing, that Ahmad found Peter in 2008, Kathryn tongue (Ahmad mentor) launched its official PET programs in Beijing and Ahmad joined the first batch for further training.
“Essentially working on the mend PET communication skills of parents and teachers,” said Ahmad. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by the tactics used by professional counsellors, parents can understand these techniques through Peter Ahmad pointed out that the program he studied a variety of situations that parents/teachers face when interacting with children. “Dr. Gordon created a framework to easily categorize this situation.” He believed that the Gordon Model eases the pressure on parents to help them identify under the ‘ Categories ‘ falling situations. This makes applying appropriate strategies simple, stress-free task.
The course discussed four Ahmad PET specific areas: what to do when You want to help children solve problems, what to do when you have a problem with your child’s do, what to do when both parties have a problem and finally, how to strengthen relationships and keep them free from conflict.
In addition, he felt that key issues are quite universal and Pakistan which is not unique in this respect, “I think the children and parents face similar problems around the world. We are all trying to figure out how to prepare our children’s future while making them adept with the lessons we learned through the ages. “
